Base maintenance is where the aircraft stops earning
A base maintenance input takes the airframe out of service for weeks at a time, and the schedule is not negotiable. Flight hours, cycles and calendar limits decide when the check falls due, and the aircraft cannot fly commercially past them.
The scarce resource is hangar capacity. Operators routinely ferry aircraft several hours to find an available slot, paying for the positioning flight, the crew and the fuel before a single task card has been opened. That cost is incurred before any maintenance value is created.
Then the findings arrive. Corrosion, structural repair or a component that fails inspection will extend a check well beyond its planned duration if the facility cannot absorb the additional work. What was quoted as a fixed downtime becomes an open one, and the return-to-service date moves.
Base maintenance capacity on the aircraft’s own doorstep
Dolphin Air carries out scheduled base maintenance on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family aircraft at Sharjah International Airport. Work is performed under cover, inside the airport perimeter, so the airframe moves from apron to hangar without a positioning flight.
Because storage, refinishing and parking run from the same facility, a check can be combined with a repaint, or roll straight into a period of protected storage, without the aircraft leaving the site. Scope, findings and rectification are agreed and documented as the check progresses, so the return-to-service date stays visible.
Base maintenance capability
Scheduled checks
Planned inspections carried out against your approved maintenance programme and task cards.
Structural inspection
Zonal and structural inspection, with findings raised, documented and agreed before rectification.
Corrosion control
Assessment and treatment of corrosion found during the check, before it becomes structural work.
Component replacement
Removal, replacement and functional testing of components called for by the check package.
Combined inputs
A check can run alongside refinishing, or move straight into protected storage, without leaving the site.
Documented output
Task cards, findings and rectification recorded so the aircraft returns to service with a complete record.
Service details
Scope and duration depend on the check package, the airframe and what the inspection finds. We confirm the detail against your maintenance programme on enquiry.

Frequently asked
Boeing 737 family and Airbus A320 family airframes. If you operate a type outside those families, contact operations and we will tell you honestly whether we can support the input.
Yes, and it is usually the efficient way to do it. Refinishing runs from the same facility, so an aircraft already open for a check can take a paint input without a second period of downtime or a positioning flight.
Findings are documented and discussed with you before rectification begins. Corrosion, structural repair or a failed component will affect the schedule, and we would rather show you the revised timeline early than let the return-to-service date drift quietly.
Yes. Covered hangar storage and supervised outdoor parking are available at the same facility, so an aircraft leaving maintenance can move directly into protected storage while awaiting return to service, sale or lease placement.
Yes. Checks are planned against your approved maintenance programme and task cards rather than a generic package.
